The sixth annual National Service Recognition Day will take place on Tuesday, April 3, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Meals on Wheels People headquarters in Multnomah Village. On National Service Recognition Day, local leaders honor AmeriCorps and Senior Corps volunteers to express appreciation for their service. This initiative is led by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the National League of Cities, the National Association of Counties, and Cities of Service.
Emilio Cantu-Gil, an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, who has been working with Meals on Wheels People since last summer will be honored at the ceremony along with other participants. Multnomah County Commissioner Loretta Smith Commissioner Smith and Grace Stratton, on behalf of U.S. Senator Ron Wyden, will recognize our local volunteers at the event and Grace will read a letter from Senator Wyden.
Meals on Wheels People is located at 7710 SW 31st Avenue in Portland.

They provide nutritious meals to older adults at dozens of meal sites in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties, and Meals on Wheels delivery to homebound seniors.
