Our featured volunteer for the month of June is Lindsey Patterson from our new Friendly Chat program.
Total Calls: 100+
Q: What made you interested in volunteering with Meals on Wheels People?
A: Very early in the pandemic, it became clear that COVID-19 would impact some individuals and families more than others, including homebound seniors. I wanted to contribute to efforts to support our community, and volunteering for Meals on Wheels People was a great way to do something while still following health guidelines to keep the community safe.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your volunteer experience?
A: During the Friendly Chat calls, I enjoy learning about what’s on the top of people’s minds each day and sharing stories about life.
Q: What inspires you?
A: Almost everyone I call expresses appreciation and gratitude for Meals on Wheels People, and it’s inspiring to hear how MOWP has positively impacted so many lives.
Q: What do you like to do when you’re not volunteering?
A: I enjoy spending time with my family, especially playing in the backyard or going on walks with my one-and-a-half year-old daughter.
Q: What is a talent you have?
A: I can twist my arms around 360 degrees (maybe you have to see it to believe it?).
Thank you, Lindsey, for caring about older adults in our community and helping us change lives, one meal at a time!
