Our Volunteer of the Month for January is Judy Davis from the Luepke Center in Vancouver.
Q: What made you interested in volunteering with Meals on Wheels People?
A: Before I retired in 2020, I worked for Killian Pacific. Killian was committed to being part of the community and they got the whole company involved in Meals on Wheels. What a wonderful opportunity and what a great company to support such a needed service. I wanted to continue to support such a great service after I retired.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your volunteer experience?
A: So many things. I have met such wonderful people on my routes. I love the stories and adventures I hear about from all the people I meet. I look forward to seeing them every week. I meet pets and admire their gardens and see their crafts. I see areas of town I’ve never been to and Dean, Debbie and team are just the most “awesome” people to work with.
Q: What inspires you?
A: Learning new things, meeting people, having a purpose.
Q: What do you like to do when you’re not volunteering?
A: Yard work, flowers, bunco, piano, reading, walking with friends.
Q: What are you looking forward to in the New Year?
A: More outdoor time, a trip to the beach, open libraries and bunco.
Thank you, Judy, for helping us change lives, one meal at a time!
