Spring has sprung and all over Oregon gardens are blooming with brilliant colors and spectacular blossoms. With the ongoing pandemic, many people continue to stay at home and limit travel to their immediate neighborhood. This is especially true for homebound elderly. That means they may have missed out on seeing Spring in all its glory.
Meals on Wheels People has created a video that features some of Oregon’s most spectacular gardens at the height of their beauty and will make it available to all Meals on Wheels People participants beginning May 19. In addition, 100 homebound seniors will receive a gift bag containing a Meals on Wheels People mug, select Smith tea and other goodies they can use while enjoying the garden video.
This video will be mades available to the general public on the Meals on Wheels People website at https://www.mowp.org/spring-garden-tour/ between May 19 and May 31. Simply click on the video link to view our tour of the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn and the Chrystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in Portland.
Those who view the video are invited to make a donation to Meals on Wheels People through a link provided on the garden tour page. All donations will be used to provide nutritious meals to homebound elderly in the Portland-Vancouver metro area.
About Meals on Wheels People: Meals on Wheels People has been changing lives, one meal at a time, since 1970. We provide more than a meal to thousands of older adults in the greater Portland metro area. Our service not only alleviates hunger and social isolation, but allows seniors to live independently with dignity in their own homes. Aging in place reduces depression, falls and hospitalization as well as the high cost of institutional care. For more information, visit: mowp.org.
