Name: Michael Muzikant
Center: Thelma Skelton
Q: What made you interested in volunteering with Meals on Wheels People?
A: I had acquaintances who were delivering Meals on Wheels and wanted to join with them. And I realized there were many homebound seniors who needed healthy meal, many of whom were unable to go to the grocery stores or restaurants in their neighborhood.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your volunteer experience?
A: Talking to people about their life experiences and realizing I may be the only person they might see during the day. And making sure they have enough to eat.
Q: What inspires you?
A: Helping people get nourishment, learning how they deal with life situations, their courage despite obstacles, and how they welcome me into their homes.
Q: What do you like to do when you’re not volunteering?
A: I love to paint, golf, do jigsaw puzzles, walk our English Springer Spaniel Petra. I’m an avid reader and have 4-5 books on my nightstand. And I love spending time with my wife, Diane, and traveling to far flung places with her.
Q: What has been your best moment this year (so far)?
A: Getting the Pfizer vaccinations to protect against COVID. I feel so fortunate to not worry about developing this life-threatening disease. And, if I might add another one, volunteering for Meals on Wheels every Wednesday.
Thank you, Michael, for caring for older adults in our community and helping us change lives, one meal at a time!
