VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

BECOME A MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVER
Deliver meals to homebound seniors. Volunteers practice non-contact delivery and deliver a week’s worth of meals to each senior. Meals are delivered Monday-Thursday with a pick-up time between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Delivery routes take about 1.5 hours to complete. Lifting up to 25 lbs. repetitively and an SUV or vehicle with back seats down required. To get started, create a volunteer account here and sign up for a Virtual New Volunteer Orientation!

FRIENDLY CHAT
Help alleviate the social isolation that many seniors experience through our new Friendly Chat program! Friendly Chat aims to provide socialization and human connection for seniors through a friendly chat phone conversation. This volunteer opportunity can be done remotely on your own time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Click here to sign up for a New Volunteer Orientation! WELLNESS CHECK CALLS
Assist in making structured safety calls to homebound seniors to check in regarding their welfare. This volunteer opportunity can be done remotely on your own time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Click here to sign up for a New Volunteer Orientation! HOPE AT HOME
Spread hope and joy to older adults in our community by creating cards and artwork for us to deliver with a meal. This is a great activity for children, families and people of all ages! Send your card or artwork to: Meals on Wheels People, 7710 SW 31st Avenue, Portland OR. 97219. Share videos and pictures of your family making their masterpieces! Post on Facebook or Instagram and tag us with #HopeAtHome #mealsonwheels #mowp #feedingseniors

FACE MASK DONATIONS
Meals on Wheels People is in need of face masks to protect our most vulnerable and high-risk homebound clients. Please click here to view a video on how to make face masks or download a PDF here! Face masks can be dropped off Monday-Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or sent to: Meals on Wheels People, 7710 SW 31st Avenue, Portland OR 97219.

Due to the drastic change in its service delivery model, Meals on Wheels People is incurring costs that are unprecedented. Donations are encouraged to allow us to continue to provide food and wellness checks for homebound elderly. Donations can be made here.
