Meals on Wheels People offers a variety of ongoing volunteer opportunities. Watch this video for an overview of what we do and why volunteers are so special to us!
- Cowabunga Food Festival – July 11-14, 2019: join Portland Monthly and Toyota for the premier food event in Portland benefiting Meals on Wheels People. Three days of the best food and drink from the PNW at Historic Rossi Farms. All volunteers will receive a commemorative Cowabunga volunteer t-shirt and admission to one of the following Cowabunga events after their shift: Farm to Fork (7/13 – all ages), Barn Bash (7/13 – 21+), or Country Brunch (7/14 – all ages). - Six to Sunset Concert Series – Every Thursday July 11-August 15, 2019: collect donations and answer questions about Meals on Wheels People as concert-goers enter the parking lot. Click here to sign up!
- Camas Days – July 26-27, 2019: greet festival-goers, answer questions about Meals on Wheels People and distribute volunteer and program information. Click here to sign up!
- Clark County Donate Dinner – September 6-7, 2019: volunteers are needed to greet customers at local Safeway and Albertsons locations and hand them a card that explains how they can “donate dinner” when they check out at the register. Click here to sign up!
Become a Meals on Wheels Driver
We rely on 400 volunteers each weekday to assist with delivering a hot, nutritious lunch to homebound seniors. Driving, walking and bike routes available. We also need volunteers to assist with Meals on Wheels preparation. All volunteers must have a valid drivers license and pass a background check. Learn More
Dining Center Opportunities
We have a number of dining centers throughout the greater Portland metropolitan area. We serve a hot lunch weekdays and rely on volunteers to help prepare and serve the meals. Most volunteers will need to pass a background check. Learn More
Opportunities include: Kitchen support, cleaning and sanitation; food preparation and serving; office support; center activities
Donate Dinner – FALL 2019
We hope to recruit 1,500 volunteers to staff two-hour shifts at more than 30 locations throughout the greater metro area the five days before Thanksgiving, Nov. 17 to 21, to ask holiday shoppers to “donate dinner to a homebound senior”. Volunteer as a team leader or just sign on for a single shift.
VOLUNTEER AS A TEAM LEADER
A Team Leader will coordinate all the volunteers for one day at a single store location between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. (you do not need to be at the store all day).
VOLUNTEER AS A STORE GREETER
A Store Greeter will volunteer as a greeter to hand out cards to customers.

Who are the Community Connectors? Community Connectors are a group of volunteers that represent Meals on Wheels People in the community. They will be responsible for tabling events and speaking engagements for the purpose of educating the community and recruiting participants and volunteers for Meals on Wheels People. Interested?
