VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
BECOME A MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVER
We rely on 400 volunteers each weekday to assist with delivering a nutritious meal and wellness check to homebound seniors using non-contact delivery procedures. Pick up for meal deliveries is Monday-Friday between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Delivery routes take about 1.5 hours to complete.
All volunteers must create an account online, sign up for a virtual New Volunteer Orientation and successfully pass a background check. Click here to get started!
We need all hands on deck as we adjust our food distribution efforts to meet complex and evolving public health needs. We have retooled our operation to account for social distancing to the extent possible — so if you don’t face higher risks for coronavirus, please sign up as a volunteer. We have had an unprecedented response to our plea for volunteers and it may be some time before a volunteer task becomes available. Please be patient.
Please note: We strongly encourage people who are 60 or older and/or have underlying health conditions or risk factors to choose other ways to contribute during this crisis.
SEND SENIORS LOVE!
Spread hope and joy to older adults in our community by creating cards and artwork for us to deliver with a meal. This is a great activity for children, families and people of all ages! Send your card or artwork to: Meals on Wheels People, 7710 SW 31st Avenue, Portland OR. 97219. Share videos and pictures of your family making their masterpieces! Post on Facebook or Instagram and tag us with #SendSeniorsLove #mealsonwheels #mowp #feedingseniors

Due to the drastic change in its service delivery model, Meals on Wheels People is incurring costs that are unprecedented. Donations are encouraged to allow us to continue to provide food and wellness checks for homebound elderly. Donations can be made here.
